What Are Smart Sites?
Understand how Smart Sites install forms, booking widgets, and the Linkssi Pixel on external websites, and how browsing intent merges into your Contacts CRM.
Smart Sites extend Linkssi beyond your bio URL. They let you install Linkssi lead forms, booking embeds, and a first-party tracking pixel on websites you already own — WordPress client sites, static landing pages, agency portfolios — so conversion tooling and intent data live where your audience already browses.
Smart Sites do not embed rich media (YouTube, Spotify) on external sites. Media embeds belong on the bio — see Rich Embeds on Your Bio. Smart Sites are for Linkssi forms, bookings, and pixel tracking on the wider web.
This feature requires Pro or Premium.
How it works
Tracked sites — Register an external domain in Dashboard → Smart Sites. Linkssi issues a site ID and pixel snippet.
Form embeds — Copy JavaScript or iframe snippets from Dashboard → Forms and paste into a WordPress page, theme footer, or HTML template. Submissions flow to the same Leads inbox as bio forms.
Booking embeds — Same pattern from Dashboard → Bookings; the widget renders your event type on the external page.
Linkssi Pixel — A lightweight script records page views on the external site. When a visitor later submits a form, anonymous browsing history merges onto their Contact record — pricing page views, return visits, and high-intent paths become visible to sales.
Automations — Trigger follow-up when forms submit or visitors show repeated interest — see Automations Overview.
Setup overview
- Open Dashboard → Smart Sites (Pro+ required).
- Add a tracked site with the external domain name.
- Install the pixel snippet in the site
<head>or via Google Tag Manager. - Embed forms or booking widgets on high-intent pages (contact, pricing, services).
- Test from a private window; confirm events on the Contact timeline.

Plan requirements
Smart Sites (pixel, external form/booking embeds, automations tied to pixel) require Pro or Premium. Starter includes tracking pixels for your Linkssi bio page (GA4, Meta, Google Ads) — that is separate from the Smart Sites pixel on external domains.
Best practices
Install pixel site-wide once, then embed forms only on pages where conversion makes sense. Agencies should document which client sites carry Linkssi snippets for offboarding clarity.
Tip: When a lead submits after viewing your pricing page three times, your follow-up email can reference their interest — context beats generic "thanks for enquiring".
Respect POPIA/GDPR: client sites should show appropriate cookie or consent notices before tracking — see Security and Privacy.
Agency workflow
For each client:
- Create forms and event types in Linkssi first.
- Register the client's domain in Smart Sites.
- Install pixel globally via GTM or theme header.
- Embed forms on contact and pricing pages only.
- Document snippet locations in the client handover doc.
- Test with a private-window submission before go-live.
What Smart Sites are not
Smart Sites cannot mirror YouTube, Spotify, or social feeds on external sites. They cannot replace your full website CMS. They do not track bio page clicks — that is Dashboard → Analytics. They are a conversion and intent layer on sites you control.
Common mistakes
Confusing Smart Sites with rich embeds — you cannot Smart-Site a YouTube player onto WordPress. Installing pixel only on the homepage while forms live on the contact page — partial journeys still help but full site coverage is better. Testing with ad blockers enabled — disable for verification. Expecting Smart Sites on Free or Starter — upgrade to Pro first.
