Custom Domains
Learn how custom domains map your own hostname to a Bio page, which plans include the feature, and the DNS workflow before SSL activates.
Custom domains let visitors reach your Linkssi bio on your own hostname — bio.yourbrand.com or links.company.co.za — instead of linkssi.com/yourslug. SSL is provisioned automatically once DNS is correct.
Custom domains require Starter, Pro, or Premium. Free plan pages use the Linkssi slug only. This guide covers concepts; step-by-step DNS work is in Custom Domain Setup Guide.
How it works
You add a hostname in Dashboard → Domains, point DNS records at Linkssi (via Cloudflare for SaaS), and Linkssi maps that hostname to a specific bio page. When status shows active, HTTPS works and the domain serves your page.
You can keep your Linkssi slug as a fallback URL — both may work until you standardise marketing on the custom domain.
Setup overview
- Confirm Starter+ plan in Dashboard → Billing.
- Open Dashboard → Domains → Add domain.
- Enter the full hostname (subdomain recommended, e.g.
bio.yourbrand.com). - Add the DNS records shown in the dashboard at your registrar or Cloudflare.
- Wait for verification and SSL activation — often minutes, sometimes up to 24 hours.
- Select which bio page the domain should serve if prompted.
- Update social bios and print materials to the new URL.

Plan requirements
Starter (~$5/mo), Pro, and Premium include custom domains. Free does not. Upgrade at Dashboard → Billing or Pricing.
Best practices
Use a subdomain (bio., links., go.) rather than apex/root domain unless you have a specific reason — subdomains are simpler to DNS and leave your main website untouched.
Tip: Lower DNS TTL before migration so rollback is fast if something misconfigures.
Once live, use the custom domain consistently — mixed URLs split analytics and confuse followers.
Multiple domains and pages
Starter includes three pages and can map domains per page depending on dashboard UI — agencies often use one domain per client page. Premium unlimited pages pairs with unlimited domains for large rosters.
SSL and security
HTTPS is automatic once DNS verifies — no manual certificate upload. Visitors should always share https:// links; modern browsers warn on mixed content if you embed insecure assets on the bio.
Choosing the right hostname
| Pattern | Example | Best for |
|---|---|---|
bio. | bio.studio.co.za | Personal brands, creators |
links. | links.agency.com | Agencies, link hubs |
go. | go.retailer.com | Campaign CTAs, short recall |
Avoid apex @ records unless you understand ALIAS/flattening — subdomains are simpler for first-time setup.
Marketing cutover checklist
When your domain goes active:
- Update Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn bio links to the custom domain.
- Regenerate QR codes on print materials.
- Update email signature links.
- Leave the old
linkssi.com/yourslugredirect working as fallback for a transition week. - Confirm Dashboard → Analytics still aggregates under the same page scope.
Common mistakes
Adding DNS records then deleting them when status is "pending" — provisioning fails. Mapping a domain on Free — upgrade first. Pointing the domain to the wrong page in a multi-page account — double-check page assignment in Domains. Expecting instant SSL on mis-typed CNAME — verify exact host and target from the dashboard copy buttons.
